When I see Sirumalargal, I see myself…

I was born in Chennai but a native of Manapad, in South Tamilnadu, a conservative Catholic village.

Memories flood back of the days that I went to school without proper clothes, shoes or money but only with the determination of my parents that I should study in a good school that will make a difference to my future.

And indeed it has.

I became a doctor, I met my soul-mate Vijayan through this, who i’ve known for almost 30 years. Despite coming from a place that is steeped in religious and cultural beliefs, with the blessings of our parents, we were able to get married. We feel education played a big role in allowing this to be possible.

We were taught right from the beginning to focus on our education and through our hard work, we now live a comfortable life blessed with two beautiful children.

Together we want to give back something to the society that reared us, make our parents proud not for what we have achieved so far but with what we can do to improve the lives of these little flowers.
