Sirumalargal supports individuals, schools and other charitable organisations.
2015:
Our most recent endeavours include the provision of computers in two schools and visiting another charitable community education initiative called The Thulir Trust, alongside our usual fundraising and visits to Danish Mission High School.
On an individual level, the charity has recently started providing sponsorship of university tuition fees for talented pupils who otherwise could not afford to attend.
Danish Mission High School:
We have been supporting the Danish Mission High School in Parikkal (Tamil Nadu, India) since 2003. This school provides education for nearly 400 children, from kindergarden to secondary school, in and around the village Parikkal.
Students at this school have families and parents of low socio-economic backgrounds who usually struggle as manual labourers to earn their daily living. Most children don’t even wear footwear to school because they can’t afford to buy any.
We visit the school every year, organise health camps and encourage the aspiring children by rewarding the top students of the school through our “Parvathy Memorial Fund”.
With help and donations from our friends, we managed to build 4 classrooms, a decent school kitchen and separate toilet for girls in 2007. The kitchen facilities, water supply and sanitation are still very basic.
Our recent fundraising, together with the support of the school management, locals and surrounding government, has helped in the construction of 6 new classrooms that will relocate the primary school. This dramatically reduced crowding issues and allowed more space for the high school students.
Our latest collaboration with Buckie and Villpuram Rotary Club have enabled us to provide a basic computer classroom for Danish Mission and also Villupuram Girls High School. These rooms are now being used frequently and children have even been able to learn basic programming and robotics with the new facilities.
The children, individuals and communities we support are truly deserving. Education can and WILL make a difference; there are tremendous opportunities for you to be able to help.
